Athletics and Business

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the intersection of passions and how we can leverage one set of experiences to positively affect another set of circumstances.

Take the intersection of competitive athletics and business.

In my time, I’ve been a competitive athlete in a number of disciplines: Road cycling, marathons, ultra-running, cross-country mountain biking, downhill MTB, track cycling, telemark skiing, soccer, and more.

On its face, it seems like my experience in these endeavors shouldn’t provide much of a positive effect on my business life.

Some might even argue that they took away focus from my life as an entrepreneur.

But when I consider all that I have learned in the world of competitive sports, I notice how my time spent training, racing, competing, planning, researching – and all the ups and downs of committing myself to do my very best in competition relates directly to my success in business.

So, be on the lookout for more crossover insights shared here in the future.
