About Bret

Bret has been developing websites since he published his first page in 1994. He works primarily with open source software and is comfortable across the whole stack, from the database to server-side logic to the front-end code visitors interact with.

In 2008 he co-founded Relish Studio with Stu Swineford. Before Relish, he led digital development work in agency and corporate roles. Today he oversees how every Relish project is built, launched, secured, and maintained.

As Bret likes to put it, most of a developer’s work is never seen by the client or the user, yet it is what makes the whole website possible.

Outside of work, Bret is learning guitar and plays a Martin D-18 Retro. He has also tried his hand at archery with a recurve bow.
